The Pack – Vans
September 18, 2006
You gotta take it for what it is. A corporate creation. Welcome to the world we live in. It sucks I know but you must admit, the beat is pretty damn catchy.
Godard’s Breathless – Redux
September 15, 2006

Just finished watching Jean-Luc Godard’s 1960 film, Breathless. It’s one of Godard’s best films and a very intergal part starting the whole French New Wave film scene which influenced so many filmmakers. In my opinion, it wasn’t as entertaining as my favorite Godard movie, Alphaville. There wasn’t much plot to the film and must admit I fell asleep twice just trying to watch the movie but for its amazing cinematography, its style, its dialogue and the fact that its a Godard movie, its definitely worth checking out.
Here are some screens from the movie which started the French New Wave scene:
They On Award Tour…
September 13, 2006

…well not really…its more of a tease but we should be thankful A Tribe Called Quest is back (somewhat) and touring again. They’re in the middle of the 2K Sports Bounce Tour. They will be performing in Toronto on September 17th at Kool Haus. Unfortunately, I just found out now and unable to get tickets.
Hopefully a full reunion will occur and a much anticipated comeback album will come out of it. One can pray. I mean someone has to save hip hop right?

The Science of Sleep Trailer
September 13, 2006
It’s odd but definitely thought provoking and extremely creative. True in Michel Gondry fashion. Gael GarcĂa Bernal from Amores Perros stars in this film. Apparently it was featured in many film festivals over the summer but will open in limited theatres on September 22nd

The Last Kiss Soundtrack
September 11, 2006

I didn’t get a chance to see the sneak preview of The Last Kiss and you can question Zach Braff as an actor and his directorial debut in Garden State but you can’t deny his incredible taste in music. He won a Grammy making his “mixtape” or rather his soundtrack for Garden State and after listening to the The Last Kiss soundtrack, he might be on track for a second.
Tracklist:
1. Chocolate – Snow Patrol
2. Star Mile – Joshua Radin
3. Pain Killer – Turin Brakes
4. Warning Sign – Coldplay
5. Ride – Cary Brothers
6. El Salvador – Athlete
7. Hide And Seek – Imogen Heap
8. Reason Why – Rachael Yamagata
9. Hold You In My Arms – Ray LaMontagne
10. Prophecy – Remy Zero
11. Paper Bag – Fiona Apple
12. Today’s The Day – Aimee Mann

Designed by Indo Maurer, this light designer provides a new take on the wallpaper. Very innovative and “new media” if you ask me.

96 Hours
September 10, 2006
96 Hours is the end result of the collaboration from Puma and designer Neil Barrett. The collection is urban, smart and meant for the style conscious on-the-go traveler/urbanite. I’d write more about it but you might as well read the philosophy of the brand Y-3. Because it’s LITERALLY Puma’s answer to their head rival Adidas and their collaberation project with Yohji Yamamoto, Y-3.
96 Hours is available via retailers in various cities. Unfortunately not available (suprised?) in Canada yet.
The Thing, Shanghai
September 6, 2006

Accidentally ran into this really interesting store called The Thing at No 266 Changle Road in Shanghai. They offer a variety of streetwear clothing made by various local Shanghaiese artists. Most tshirts are graphic/silkscreen based and I must admit their designs are pretty cool. They play around with the tshirts and the limitless of the medium. Reminds me a lot of the stores of Shirtflag but differentiate themselves from being a lot less political. I was going to pick a shirt myself but I don’t think I could without getting mobbed. (The place was busy as hell when I checked it out) Be sure to check The Thing out if you’re in the Shanghai area. Sorry, wasn’t able to take photos of their designs. Apparently they frown upon taking photos of their products
I guess they’re worried of people stealing their ideas. (Which is what I wanted to do ..haha)
