My Rayban Wayfarers

August 26, 2006

The nerd gets nerdier.

Whatever, I think they’re kinda cool and I love how vintage and old fashion they are? Was it not James Dean who put the Wayfarers by Rayban on the map? I mean if he can look cool in them, why can’t I?

……k, dont answer that.

Oh, by the way, please don’t laugh when you see me sporting them.

Albums you should definitely check out:

1. Lupe Fiasco – Food & Liquor

Hands down, in my opinion, the best Hip Hop album this year. Lupe Fiasco‘s album leaked about 4 months ago but I recently got the chance to really listen to it. The kid definitely brings some much needed life in the Hip-Hop game. Executive produced by Jay-Z as well as tracks produced by Kayne, Mike Shinoda and Three 6 Mafia, there was no way this album wasn’t gonna be any good. Great flow, rhymes and stories from this Chicago native.

Songs definitely you should check out – Kick Push, You My, Real Recognize Real, Slow Down and Make Sure

2. The Roots – Game Theory

Experimenting with Hip-Hop, The Roots continue to push the border on music and with ‘Game Theory’, it definitely pays off. Thanks to ?uestlove and the lyrical content (themes such as loss, war, confusion, double standards) of Black Thought really shine throughout this whole album.

Songs definitely you should check out – Long Time, Don’t Feel Right, In The Music, Game Theory and Livin In A New World

3. Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins – Rabbit Fur Coat

If you liked Rilo Kiley, definitely check out this album. Jenny Lewis‘ soulful voice should be enough for you to get this album. Jenny Lewis’ solo debut is a success.

Songs definitely you should check out – You Are What You Love, Rise Up With Fists!!! and Handle With Care

Other Songs To Check Out:

The Killers – When You Were Young
Regina Spektor – Better
The Watson Twins – Southern Manners
Miles Davis – Ko – Ko
Busta Rhymes – I Love My Bitch
Gnarls Barkley – Smiley Faces
Metric – Between The Bars (Elliott Smith Cover)
Editors – Munich
Jurassic 5 – Work It out

Vice Magazine Online

July 11, 2006

Blah I wrote a whole caption about this but WordPress seemed to delete it when I was about to publish it. I’m not even gonna bother retyping it. Fuck you WordPress. Oh well, basically to sum it all up, Vice, like The Fader, decided to publish their magazine online as well. Although it was free at various Vice stores (It’s a shame they closed the Toronto store down on Queen), Vice decided it was probably easier to get a bigger audience via online.

To be honest, Vice is kinda too absurd for me and I never really understood the content and articles they would put in their magazine but it definitely was an interesting read on an extremely uninteresting Tuesday at work. Click here to check it out

Here are some pics from last week’s Summer Sourcing Show for Gifts, Toys and Household Products at Hong Kong Convention Centre. Read the rest of this entry »

Visually I think its amazing. But this just screams racism. I don’t think theres another way to look at it. Tsk Tsk on you, Sony. I’d like to see how they explain themselves.

720 Degree Dunk

July 5, 2006

Remember in 2000 when And1 Mixtapes were all the hype and teenage suburban kids (ahem) were trying to pull off ridiculous basketball moves, well its 2006 and even though I don’t think the And1 fad was as strong as before, this dunk will definitely get people talking about And1 again.

The photo is from Sudden Weekly, June 30th-July 7th’s edition of the Hong Kong weekly magazine. The article features my boss and his interior design project in Fortress Hill, Hong Kong. I helped with the photo shoot. It was a pretty cool experience. The view from the apartment was amazing.

I played the stereotypical Asian guy with glasses studying diligently for his exams. Actually, it turned out better than expected. I didn’t really want them to take the photo but they insisted they needed a “model”.

Thanks to Sudden Weekly for making me look incredibly taller than I actually am but my feet look monstrous. I guess thats not a bad thing. Ha.
